Welcome to CLUE, the Property Honesty Platform. These Terms of Service and End User License Agreement ("Terms") govern your use of the CLUE mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Key Points: CLUE enables tenants to share honest property reviews ("CLUEs") to help others make informed rental decisions. You must be truthful in your submissions, respect others' privacy, and understand that false or malicious reports may have legal consequences.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using CLUE, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. Eligibility
To use CLUE, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have legal capacity to enter into binding agreements
- Not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable laws
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
3. Account Registration & Verification
3.1 Account Creation
You must create an account to use CLUE. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Promptly update any information that becomes inaccurate
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
3.2 Identity Verification
To submit CLUEs (as a Tenant) or access CLUEs (as a Seeker), you must complete identity verification. This may include:
- UAE Pass Verification: Government-issued digital identity verification
- Document Verification: Emirates ID and/or Ejari (rental contract) verification
- Property Owner Verification: Title deed and identity document verification for landlords
Verification is required to ensure the authenticity of submissions and prevent fraudulent activity. We use automated systems to verify documents and may reject verifications that cannot be confirmed.
4. CLUE Submissions
Important: By submitting a CLUE, you attest that all information provided is true, accurate, and based on your actual experience. False, misleading, or malicious submissions may result in account termination and potential legal action.
4.1 Submission Requirements
When submitting a CLUE, you must:
- Only report issues you have personally experienced as a tenant of the property
- Provide truthful and accurate information to the best of your knowledge
- Include genuine evidence (photos, videos, documents) that you have the right to share
- Not exaggerate, fabricate, or misrepresent conditions or events
- Not include false information about landlords, property managers, or other parties
- Focus on factual, verifiable issues rather than personal disputes
4.2 Evidence Guidelines
When uploading evidence, you agree to:
- Only upload content you own or have permission to use
- Blur or obscure faces of identifiable individuals who have not consented
- Redact personal information (names, phone numbers, email addresses) visible in documents or images
- Not upload content that is defamatory, obscene, or violates others' rights
- Ensure evidence is relevant to the reported issue
4.3 Truthfulness Attestation
Before each CLUE submission, you will be required to confirm that:
- All information provided is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge
- You have personally experienced the issues reported
- You understand that false reporting may have legal consequences
- You authorize CLUE to publish the information to help other users
4.4 Amendment Submissions
You may submit amendments to previously approved CLUEs to add new evidence or update information. Amendments are subject to:
- A limit of one amendment per 30-day period per CLUE
- The same truthfulness and evidence requirements as original submissions
- AI moderation review before approval
5. Content Moderation
5.1 Automated Review
All CLUE submissions undergo automated AI review to:
- Verify compliance with our content policies
- Detect privacy violations (visible faces, personal information)
- Assess evidence quality and relevance
- Identify potentially false or misleading content
- Check for prohibited content (explicit material, hate speech, threats)
5.2 Moderation Decisions
Submissions may be:
- Approved: Published and visible to other users
- Rejected: Not published, with reasons provided
- Flagged for Review: Held for manual review in ambiguous cases
We reserve the right to remove, edit, or refuse to publish any content at our discretion.
5.3 Appeals
If your submission is rejected, you may contact support to request a review. We will consider your appeal but are not obligated to reverse moderation decisions.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You agree NOT to:
- Submit false, misleading, or defamatory content
- Create fake or duplicate accounts
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Submit CLUEs for properties where you were never a tenant
- Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users or property stakeholders
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Attempt to manipulate or game the platform (fake validations, coordinated attacks)
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features
- Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Service without permission
- Use automated systems or bots to access the Service
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 CLUE's Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, features, functionality, and content (excluding user-generated content), is owned by CLUE and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
7.2 Your Content
You retain ownership of the content you submit (text, photos, videos, documents). However, by submitting content to CLUE, you grant us a:
- Non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content within the Service
- Right to sublicense to our service providers for the purposes of operating the platform
- Right to create derivative works (such as thumbnails, excerpts) for display purposes
This license continues even if you delete your content, as it may have been viewed, cached, or stored by other users or systems.
7.3 Feedback
Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide about the Service become our property, and we may use them without obligation to you.
8. Seeker Pass & Purchases
8.1 Seeker Pass
To access CLUE submissions as a property seeker, you must purchase a Seeker Pass. Seeker Pass options include:
- 2-Week Pass: Access for 14 days from purchase
- 1-Month Pass: Access for 30 days from purchase
Verified tenants who have submitted CLUEs may be eligible for discounted pricing.
8.2 Payment & Billing
Purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. All payments are subject to the terms of the respective platform. We do not store your payment information.
8.3 Refunds
Due to the nature of digital access, Seeker Passes are generally non-refundable once activated. Refund requests must be submitted through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store according to their policies. Exceptional circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
8.4 Pass Expiration
Seeker Passes are one-time purchases and do not auto-renew. Access expires at the end of the purchased period. You may purchase a new pass at any time.
9. Disclaimers
9.1 Service Provided "As Is"
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
9.2 User-Generated Content
CLUE is a platform for user-generated content. We do not:
- Guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any CLUE submission
- Endorse or verify the truthfulness of user reviews
- Take responsibility for decisions you make based on CLUE content
- Guarantee that all properties will have reviews available
9.3 No Professional Advice
CLUE submissions are opinions and experiences shared by individual users. They do not constitute professional advice (legal, real estate, or otherwise). You should conduct your own due diligence before making rental decisions.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- CLUE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS, OR AED 500, WHICHEVER IS GREATER
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR DAMAGES ARISING FROM USER-GENERATED CONTENT, THIRD-PARTY SERVICES, OR YOUR RELIANCE ON INFORMATION FOUND ON THE PLATFORM
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CLUE, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Content you submit to the Service
- Any false, misleading, or defamatory content you provide
12. Dispute Resolution
12.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
12.2 Informal Resolution
Before initiating formal proceedings, you agree to contact us at legal@clue.ae and attempt to resolve disputes informally for at least 30 days.
12.3 Jurisdiction
Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
13. Termination
13.1 By You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Termination does not entitle you to refunds for purchased Seeker Passes.
13.2 By Us
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without notice, if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Submit false or malicious content
- Engage in fraudulent activity
- Harass other users or platform stakeholders
- Fail to complete verification requirements
13.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to access the Service immediately ceases
- We may delete your account data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Provisions of these Terms that should survive termination will remain in effect
14. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services including:
- Firebase (Google) for authentication and storage
- UAE Pass for identity verification
- Apple App Store and Google Play for purchases
- Google Cloud services for AI processing
Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party service availability or performance.
15. Miscellaneous
15.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and CLUE regarding the Service.
15.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
15.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
15.4 Assignment
You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights without restriction.
15.5 Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays or failures in performance resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
